Galileo Seven Shuttlecraft moc Lego model, 2026 version. |
My first version of this model dated back to 2003; it was time to build a new shuttle to go with the "U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701™ Bridge" set released by LEGO® this month. So, here is my greatly improved 2026 version.
The Galileo is a fictional Class F shuttlecraft assigned to the USS Enterprise in the 1960s television series Star Trek. It appears for the first time in the 1967 episode "The Galileo Seven" (Season 1, Episode 16) and subsequently in six other episodes.
The full-size prop built by customizer Gene Winfield was about 23 to 24 feet (7 meters) long, had a 5.5-foot (1.7 m) ceiling height, and was made of painted wood and sheet metal over a steel frame.
After years roting amongst old RVs and busses in California, 1989, the Galileo was purchased by Lynne Miller of Akron, Ohio in 1989. Her plan was to restore the shuttle once again but in 1993, the owner and her restoration team had a falling out and parted ways.
After being found in very poor condition at auction in June 2012 by superfan Adam Schneider, the prop was restored to its 1960s appearance with the help of Master Shipwrights Inc. and exhibited publicly. |
Mon première version de ce modèle datait de 2003, il était temps que je fasse une nouvelle navette pour aller avec le "pont de l’U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701™" qui est sorti ce mois ci chez LEGO®. Voici donc ma version 2026 très améliorée.
Le Galileo est une navette spatiale fictive de classe F affectée à l'USS *Enterprise* dans la série télévisée Star Trek des années 1960. Elle apparaît pour la première fois dans l'épisode de 1967 intitulé « Le Galileo Seven » (en français : Galilée ne répond plus) épisode 16 de la saison 1, puis dans six autres épisodes.
Ce modèle grandeur nature, construit par le préparateur Gene Winfield, mesurait environ 7 mètres de long pour une hauteur sous plafond de 1,7 mètre, il était constitué de bois peint et de tôle fixés sur une armature en acier.
Après avoir passé des années à se détériorer au milieu de vieux camping-cars et de bus en Californie, le Galileo fut racheté en 1989 par Lynne Miller, originaire d'Akron (Ohio). Elle avait pour projet de restaurer la navette, mais en 1993, un différend survint entre la propriétaire et son équipe de restauration, entraînant la fin de leur collaboration.
Retrouvé en très mauvais état lors d'une vente aux enchères en juin 2012 par Adam Schneider, un fan inconditionnel, l'accessoire a été restauré pour retrouver son apparence des années 1960 — avec le concours de l'entreprise Master Shipwrights Inc. — avant d'être exposé au public..
